RM 10

3rd Series - Complete Set of RM10 Note

The 3rd Series was introduced since 1996 in RM2. The release of RM10 of 3rd Series was done in 1997 with the signature of Tan Sri Dato' Ahmad Mohd Don on the side of the note (TYPE 1).

It was in 1999 when Tan Sri Dato' Seri Ali Abul Hassan took over the position of Bank Negara Governor, the RM10 banknote was released with the new signatory. However, It still remains the position of signature which is on the bottom left side. The position of the signature was reconfigured and was placed in the center of the note, thus in end of 1999, BNM released another different type of RM10 note with Tan Sri Dato' Seri Ali Abul Hassan signature in the center.

Tan Sri Dato' Sri Dr. Zeti Aktar took over the BNM Governor position in 2000 and again the banknote changes it governor signatory. In 2004, BNM upgraded the RM10 security feature by introducing the holographic strip on the obverse of the note but retained all its other design features.

2nd Series of Malaysian Banknote

The second series of Malaysian Banknote was issued with Malaysian traditional ornamental designs and they are in $1, $5, $10, $20, $50, $100, $500, and $1000 denominations. There are three type of banknotes issued in the second series of Malaysian Banknotes. The Type 1 of second series was issued between 1982 to 1984 with the signature of the Bank Negara governor Tan Sri Dato' Abd Aziz bin Hj. Taha. A recognisable blind mark was introduced at the upper left corner. The reverse of these notes feature some of the important monument or historic buildings located at Kuala Lumpur, the capital city of Malaysia.


The subsequent revision or the Type 2 of second series was introduced from 1986 to 1995. This Type 2 of second series has the signatory of governor Tan Sri Dato' Jaffar Hussein. One of the most observable changes is the removable of the blind mark on the upper left hand corner. The serial number which was previously printed horizontally is now printed vertically in red colour. The four corners of the notes which previously printed in white colour has been filled with colours.

Type 3 of second series was released from 1995 to 1998 and basically has retained the features from its previous type. The only changes is on the governor signatory. The new governor Tan Sri Dato' Ahmad Mohd Don took over the position from Tan Sri Dato' Jaffar Hussein.

The front features the portrait of the first Seri Paduka Baginda Yang di-Pertuan Agong (King of Malaysia) on the right. The back features the old Railway Station located in Kuala Lumpur which was built in 1910.
